Suggestion: When lining up pens uncapped for size comparisons, The front end of the grip is what should be in line. I'm always puzzled why presenters' struggle with this. Not only would it give viewers a visual of the barrel length, but the nib size at the same time. After all, the "Grip" is what make the barrel "too long/short, or the nib angel comfortable when presenters give an opinion about "The-Feel" (which, if I'm not mistaken, is the whole point of pen comparisons ... so the viewer might get/understand the "feel" of a pen they may not have used before)

I’m really enjoying my 2024 Horizon in Desert! Super easy to fill. Curious though. I can’t find anywhere that tells the volume of ink it takes for a full fill. Any idea?

Have you noticed the nib rotating after extending it multiple times?

Having the availability of different cap and barrel finials is interesting, and best is how simple it is to exchange the components. Many pens can be re-organized, or "Mr. Potato-headed", but it often involves sticking a tiny screwdriver into the cap and removing a lot of fiddly parts. If a microscopic screw or a plastic liner is damaged or lost, the pen becomes spare parts. I like the possibility of implanting the organs of one pen into different resin bodies, though, since there is no standardization of thread size nor much else, and since Mr. Just seems interested primarily in pens that are outside my budget, I'll have to admire them from afar. Stephen has made 4 pens for me. He knows I like a smaller, slimmer pen and was able to fulfill this need. Additionally, he makes "Bring your own nib (BYON) pens that take the grip from those that produce propriety nibs with boring bodies. My 912 music nib now has a gorgeous body and the back grip looks in it. Of course, it writes amazingly. I am so pleased you have discovered this amazing and gifted artisan!

Identifying who the maker of the pen, is relative to how many pens you have from that makers. I currently support 6 independent pen makers. I can tell who they are from the style, choice of materials and nibs they offer.

This is my second Carbon-T,. The first was when it was made in France and came in a triangular paper "tube" .... that's it! It was woven carbon ( not linear) and very nice ... until the pin that fits into the cartridge fell out. Sent it to Italy for repair and it never got there. Had to replace it as it was my go-to sketch pen. Ordered another one from Appelboom (engraved, of course) but it was the newer linear carbon fiber. the rear ink section was loose, and in the proceed of tightening it up to an acceptable fit, the linear carbon split... just a little, enough that I know and am now careful. It works fine, and I am still happy with it years later. Very cool pen. It should have been made better!

I'm a huge fan of Stephen's work and have a hefty collection because I love the many many different resins available and I do have a Pilot 743 in a gorgeous purple body. Stephen is very accommodating and great guy to deal with. He also has a large range of resins for a custom pen making alongside his store. I highly recommend his work!

I have recently bought this pen from Etsy . Very nice pen with a comfortable grip for long writing .The nib has a bit of feedback and is not scratchy at all. Ebonite feed with no 8 size nib is not very common with under $30 pen . I have ordered a fine nib and am very happy with the purchase❤

I just received a Just Turnings Opal pen, with turquoise finials and a turquoise grip section, with a Mr. Cypress nib.Material by turntpenco. It was a commissioned piece, and it came out just how I hoped it would.

My Gunmetal Matte Faber-Castell Loom is my go-to pocket size pen, and its F nib has little feedback and works well on all types of paper.

I like Hongdian pens. They are pretty and write well, but the grip sections on the ones I've purchased were too steeply narrowed and metal, wich doesn't suit my writing grip and style. This looks like it might work 😊

Really like the opal material for the pen. Personally I would probably would not be a much of a candidate for the cap/finial customization. Agree with you comment on branding. It can be subtle and/or blend in but at this price (range) it is necessary (imo) if you are building a business and client base. David, thank you for another interesting review.

A new pen maker - yay!! Really like the opal resin and the nib design and this is a great way to try this nib on an affordable pen! After checking his site, it appears my choice of EF nib is not available with the Mr Cypress nib as stated in the video, just the steel nib. I was so happy to see you review this pen. I own five pens from Just Turnings so far, and I love them. My two favourites are slightly larger than the standard model shown here and made for #8 bock nibs. The three others are clipless standard models with Mr. Cypress nibs. I love being able to choose a pen I like from the website or having one costom made. I think I will be ordering a pen to fit my Platinum 3776 nib units too. Stephen does great work :)

The pen is so beautiful as it came, that I can't imagine wanting to add the different colored caps. It is a nice option, though!

A good colour match for this pen ink wise would be Endless Alchemy Mystic Forest the green is almost identical to the pen and the shading would pic up the darker areas of the pen, on the right paper like regalia the ink Sheen's a brownish red that would match the dark areas on the pen barrel so nicely. Thanks for another awesome review from a avid fan down here in South Africa.

I think from laser engraving method's perspective/limitations, the lines are somewhat inevitable, can it be made thinner? maybe, but making the moire effect a full on 360, perhaps much like knurling, if not done correctly, it would make a worse outcome overall than the thick lines made 'intentional'. the lines remind me of some printed paper decorative on some 80s-90s cheap pens mimicking celluloid textures, I think Chrisrap52 has some of them.

At that price, I might just look up from my Montblancs!

Visconti pens are junk. Like most people I was intrigued by the fact that it's made from some kind of volcanic composite. I purchased a white viscotti Blizzard from a known retailer that's very well established and the nib would not write on the up stroke so I sent it back and the retailer sent me a second one and the second one also didn't write properly. I was going to return it but I really liked the weight and the feel of the material even though the nib was junk. I sent it to a first-rate nibmeister who fixed it however a year and a half later it started leaking and around the top of the nib from some red ink it was stained and it was impossible to get the red stain off of the pen. It had now been over two years but the pen was the most frustrating pen in my collection so I wrote a letter to the CEO of the company that makes them and was told that they would repair it for free but it was no longer produced and would have to go back to Italy. After about 5 weeks I contacted them cuz I didn't have it and they said it would take 10 weeks in order to get it replaced. at this juncture I changed my mind it was totally turned off by the brand and the pen and told the company CEO that I wanted a full refund and that if he was disinclined to return my money that I would litigate. Did not mean to be so threatening but was absolutely disgusted. Close of London said they would credit the retailer and the retailer was wonderful and sent me back my money. I know they also outsource their nibs and then later decided to do them internally but as far as I'm concerned the company makes garbage. For the price they charge the reliability and quality of the pens is absolutely horrific. At least that was my experience and I will never buy another one. Do yourself a favor buy a Sailor or a Mont Blanc or a Pelikan. Don't waste your money on Visconti. Can't imagine what an entry level one is like since their flagship ones are horrible.

I was really drunk and had the idea once to try to steal the gorilla statue from the local mini golf course. That idea still wasn’t as stupid as mixing 3 inks in one fountain pen.

What a great insightful review.. But the unit T (Tesla) refers to the magnetic flux density.. Not just flux.. This bugged me a bit. As being an Electrical Engineer, I respect the contributions of Nikola Tesla and a unit on his honor must be bug free..

A couple of nitpicks. The tesla is actually a unit measure for magnetic field intensity (or, equivalently, a unit measure for magnetic flux density). The wave below the cap band could represents the current intensity over time in an AC circuit or the electromagnetic force (aka the voltage. It could also represent the magnetic field intensity over time generated by an AC current, there's no way to know. I'm not familiar with Tesla's theory of gravity, but I would say that diagram on the end of the barrel reminds me of the magnetic field generated by a magnetic dipole. Anyway, loved this review. A very interesting looking pen.

Great review and a fabulous pen ! One very small criticism though, David. As a devoted fan and champion of Tesla for many years I would correct your use of the word "advocate" of Alternating current. He was the sole INVENTOR.
